I know why it happens, but I wonder why other wikis don't suffer from it.

Other wikis usually have links to non-existent articles go directly to the edit page, which is presumably not indexed by Google due to some robots.txt setting.  That may be at least part of the reason.

I think Goatse The Movie is mentioned in the Darth Wiki's pages that will never exist.

Yeah, most wikis (by which I mean "wikis running on MediaWiki") don't show an actual "page" when you link to something nonexistent. I'd imagine other wikis that use PMWiki do suffer from it.

This was came up in Tech Wishlist once, but nothing was ever done about it. The proposed solution was to have nonexistent pages return an invisible 404 error (thus telling Google's bots the page doesn't exist) while still showing the "Click the edit button..." message to actual users.
