Would making a diamond sword with a steel brace make it more resistant to breaking?

^Not much, as diamond tends to break by shattering. It does, however, depend on the angle you hit it at.

Now that I think about it diamond items like that would still be expensive, due to the labor needed.

I mean do you have any idea how much cheaper the steel itself of a suit of armor is than the suit of armor itself?
