My skin issues make it hard for me to go swimming

despite my really enjoying swimming and the fact that we have a pool.  For now at least; we probably won't once we move.  If we do.

Chronic eczema.  At least, it's probably eczema.  Leading to things like the rash that broke out a few weeks ago, which I'm still trying to deal with.  Right now for some reason my skin is just severely dry.  And when it's oh-so-slightly over-hydrated, it itches.

I had eczema pretty bad as a kid. Fortunately, I grew out of it.

Unfortunately, it got worse after I hit puberty.  Used to be confined to my fingers.

I wish we had a pool, but I'm glad I don't have eczema. That bites.

I could probably just visit the community center pool every now and then, though.

Mine was around my elbows and knees, mostly.

Oh, yeah, also had some in the interior bends of the elbows and knees.

But shit really hit the fan when I hit puberty.  It's been coming and going since.

Odd, since puberty had the exact opposite effect for me.

And it really sucked.  There was a period of time where I had a major outbreak over my skin.  Dermatologists said it was an eczema flare-up; my pediatrician at the time said it was pityriasis rosea, and according to my mom it did clear up in time--though for a few weeks it basically involved almost my whole body being covered dry, red splotches.

It didn't help that at the time, I was taking a gym class, and in said class was also the first girl I had a crush on.  I ended up associating that with the feeling of frustration and the intro stage theme from Mega Man X3, because at the time I could get an SNES emulator to work on a school computer but MMX3 didn't work with said emulator and all I could do was get to the intro stage and see a bunch of messed-up graphics.  (I'd played MMX3 some years before and longed for the opportunity to play it again.)

Curiously, there was in fact one day on which said gym class would have gone swimming.  I remember that I missed that class, but for an unrelated reason (I had some other event to go to).

Lol, it's more of a memory than anything else.  I kinda like the theme actually; it's just that it got rolled up in the emotions of a first crush on a girl who had no interest in me, along with having a skin condition that pretty much prevented me from approaching her at all.

Also rolled up in the same mash of memories is my reading Lord of the Flies.
