You cannot respond to that accusation without sounding butthurt. Except on some 4chan boards, where the word is banned, most people make do with "buttfrustrated" or "analmad", and saying "What's wrong? Can't say 'butthurt"?" shuts them up. But still.

    They're not meant to be actual criticisms, they're simply cliches meant to shut down a discussion for the accuser's benefit.

    My problem with the terms "butthurt" and "u mad" is that there's no way - absolutely NO WAY - that you can reply to them without sounding butthurt and/or mad. It makes them great trolling tools, sure, but still.

    I dunno.
    At least once I found taking it at literal face value worked.

    i.e. Upon being accused of butt-hurt... promptly going into a rant about having done an epic-scale shit that ripped the anus and made much bleedy all over the place, and then clogged the toilet, etc etc etc.   Doesn't have to be true... Just has to provoke a "uh... wut?" sort of reaction.
