That Final Fantasy III is Nintendo DS exclusive
(in English, that is--I know there's a Famicom version in Japan).
Ya know, I don't understand this. There are two consoles--the GBA and the PS1--where its possible to have a nearly complete collection of the early Final Fantasy games, and yet precisely both of those have a big, Final Fantasy III shaped gap in them.
I mean I suppose if I really want it, I could just find a DS cheap and buy it, but even so: why the gap? Why did they choose to release FF3 on precisely one system when every other game in the series was ported to anything and everything?
It just bugs me.

As for the Hiromichi Tanaka quote... is that referring to the Famicom or the DS version? I can't imagine that excuse still flying in the PS1 era (especially since they ported IV, V and VI)
And also, seriously, I can't understand Square's thinking on this one (then again, I've said in the past that a lot of their decisions make no sense).
That said, I don't get why they've re-released/remade FF2 so many times but not FF3. FF2 is like the first black sheep in the series.
Square must just hate FF3 for some reason.
sequels
And including the sequel with an additional (albeit shorter) game in-between in one remake. Granted, the Complete Collection version is rather low-tech compared to the DS' 3D remake (which is ugly anyway).
You know which game should have a remake? FF6. If only so that I can own it. I missed the GBA version when it came out and can't find it anywhere. Besides FF2, it's the only game of the 2D generation that I don't have and it's my favorite FF. Yeah, that bugs me.
I've honestly spotted the GBA version by accident a few times too, but I never bothered because I already have the SNES version.
In my area there's also a mom-and-pop store called the Game Room which just opened.
You could also always try pawn shops.
Or, for that matter, just order the game online.
