Facebook pages that attack random kids

edited 2011-06-05 18:36:35 in Webspace
So, there's a page on Facebook right now that was created to mock some kid that goes to my school, I don't even know the guy. But like, did the guy who made it really have nothing better to do than to make it easier to bully some random kid? It's not the first time I've seen pages like that, either. It just bugs me is all...

All cyberbullying really is is some angry kid that has nothing better to do than troll someone in real life behind the protection of internet anonymity.

Considering FB isn't even anonymous, this makes this even dumber.

I am not quite sure why people make pages like that, but I do agree with you that such pages are annoying. I think part of it may be that some people mock others in order to feel better about themselves. From what I hear, insecurities tend to be pretty common among school-age kids so I would not be surprised if that was the exact reason why such mocking pages exist.

I think another unfortunate reason for such cyberbullying and school "acceptable targets" in general has to do with finding unity through making fun of other students (i.e. fitting in through insulting those considered unpopular to being with).
