Why don't Presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor?

Comments

  • Because 50-60 year old men do not make the best soldiers, and their death on the frontline could derail the war effort.
  • Maybe they ought to send their offspring, though.
  • Obama's kids are too young and the Bush twins seemed like they'd be incompetent soldiers.
  • Because authority equals asskicking, meaning that the presidents are waaaay too powerful to use. So, instead, both sides agree not to use their presidents unless the other side uses their president first.
  • Because the real world still hasn't got dudes that are BAD ENOUGH TO SAVE THE PRESIDENT, geez.
  • It's the same reason why Warhammer is such a horrible fucking board game.

  • probably human
Because of the jerks in the desert who are blowing up the sunshine.

    a little muffled
@Jaime: Did we move to Alera without me noticing?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Lincoln actually got drafted at random during the Civil War. Back then, though, you were allowed to hire someone to replace you for the draft, so he did that.
  • All good reasons not to have the president fight the war.

Why don't we get a soldier, preferably a badass one, and automatically make him/her president?
  • We've done that before several times. With mixed results.

Because the Presidents are government-types, ones who learn their trade through telling others what to do, as opposed to learning how to fight for themselves.

Warrior Presidents worthy of note only appear on TV.
