What is motivation?

Recent events have inspired me to make this topic. What is motivation? Is it desire, fear, what? I recently drew motivation from a mix of desire and fear. Because I didn't want to let someone down. What of you IJBMers? What motivates you why do you strive? Why do you struggle?

Motivation is something that you tend to not have when you want motivation itself.

Good question. I'll have to think about it. I'm one of those people who always lacked motivation (or so I was told) and finding it has proven fruitless....but maybe I've gotten better in some ways.
