The voices of Raising Heart and Bardiche in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

edited 2011-05-28 01:06:09 in Media
I think the thing that bugs me about them is that they aren't Engrishy enough, due to having actual English-speakers voicing them.  Also, weapons really shouldn't have voices in the first place.

Alternate IJBM: I was trying to find something to complain about in Nanoha but this was the most serious flaw I could find.

Comments

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
The English gets even better later~

If you want to find an IJBM, how's about the phasing out of males? Except that's not a flaw in this show~

Well, I've only watched the first season so far, so... yeah.  I dunno about males getting phased out.  That said, I'd probably like that or at least be neutral toward it since I don't particularly care for the male characters anyway.

Chrono's cooler in the second season (Delayed Struggle Bind~!)

But yeah. There's not really all that much to complain about, it's a wellcrafted show.

How about Suzuka and Arisa? Nanoha's school friends? They turned out to be pretty much pointless.

True.  But not necessarily every character needs to be important.  I mean, you could say the same about, say, Nanoha's family.  Though I guess her friends do get somewhat more character development that doesn't really amount to anything.

But one of them is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, so it makes her presence worthwhile.  The other one, not so much.

But an inordinate amount of time was spent developing them, only for them to just... disappear. It's like, we were invested in them, but in the end, they didn't affect the plot at all.
  • Yeah.  It basically turned out that the only purpose they served was to show that Nanoha makes people be friends with one another... or something.  Which really wasn't necessary and it certainly wasn't necessary to spend so much time on them.  Still... even that is kind of a minor complaint.

It's a better complaint than "The voices of Raising Heart and Bardiche" :P
  • To be fair, those voices did bug me a lot more than anything related to Arisa and Suzuka...

But I see your point. >.>

I think they were English because it's a foreign language to the Japanese, but one they can translate easily enough on their own, if they haven't learned it already.
