Being on auto-pilot.

One minute, I'm sitting at home, watjhing a movie. The next, I'm at my friend's house, it's an hour and thirty minutes later, and my breath tastes / smells like an odd mix of mokha and a banana nut muffin. Meanwhile, I'm wondering how the hell I got there, why I'm there, what I ate / drank, where my friend is, where I put my jaket, and why I have a Gene Austin rekord on my lap.

Government mind control beams, you should wear your tinfoil hat at all times.

    Also being tired doesn't help.

    Yeah.

On that note, post-finals stress doesn't help mujh either. #_#
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Why does strange shit happen to you?  I could blame drugs and all but I don't that can explain that.
  • I don't quite know. This has been happening to me sinse I was a jhild. It's as if my brain just shuts down for a while, while I'm still using it.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
So it basically reads as short term amnesia?
As that isn't healthy, I only feel it when super tired, but can remember after thinking back, total non recall is worrying.
  • Mohka? ... Is that like some special sort of vodka?
My breath once spelt of vodka and coffee... but that was because I got a bottle of vodka and poured coffee granules into it... and then drunk some of it.
You like the J-key too, don't you? ^_^

    ^J-key?

    ^^Essentially.

Have you ever been to a doctor to mention your amnesia?

(Also it is fascinating to read about amnesia especially blackouts due to alcohol.)
  • Nope. It's never gotten in the way of anything serious, and I guess I've never seen it as being that big a deal. :/

Oddly enough, I've never blaked out from alkohol. Imagine that.
  • So no memory of it then?

Weird. I usually know when I'm on auto-pilot, but I'm just not consciously controlling it. Like I started running a macro and the whole thing is playing out from muscle-memory.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Did you suffer any bumps to the head when you were younger?
  • ^^Sometimes I remember it (or small bits of it), but usually, no memory of it whatsoever.

    ^None that I kan rekall.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
So basically like a blackout from alcohol but without the alcohol.

That isn't a great thing, however you seem ok so far. I'd still advise going to a doctor, an making sure you mention the lack of memory from such auto pilot occurrences.
  • Weird...  I take it at least that what you can deduce of what happens during these lapses of consciousness is instinctively driven in some form, right?   I mean no intentional self-harm or anything, right?

  • ^^Yeah, I should probably get around to that.

^Yeah. When I finally find out what I did, it's always something I was meaning to do anyway, so I don't have to worry about blaking out and jumping off of a bridge or anything.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Does this happen more often now than back then?
  • Nope. It peaked around when I was 14 or 15, then it started dying down.

It seems like it's more annoying than scary.

It does seem similar to something I've read in college years ago.  There was this guy who was doing something around house then he finds himself in the mountains with a backpack.  He later finds out that there's a year or so worth of memories he's lost.
