I don’t know it somewhat holds the same type of contradiction in terms as gay conservatives of shooting ones self in the foot.

It's nothing more than a lie used by their opponents, IMHO.  The opponents of conservatives preach that only liberal positions are in the interests of women, homosexuals, blacks, etc., so the minorities who choose a more conservative path in the political world may be labelled traitors.
  • Well, they get to feel self-righteous when comparing themselves to other women. Plus, there are  quite lot of females who are comfortable with, ahem, traditional role of female but fail to understand that just because t suits them does not man that it should be forced upon everyone.
  • I'd think only libertarians act in the interest of the general public.
  • All those who believe in their positions think they act in the interest of the general public.

However, I also believe there are populists who knowingly support positions that are not in the interest of the general public simply because they believe that is the only way to get elected.

  • Tell me Frodo do you hold that liberty is in the interest of the general public?
  • I'm curious do you think it is a means to an end or an end in and of itself?
  • ^It's both.  Liberty is a means of providing opportunity, etc., which, in a peaceful environment produces other benefits.  But I also believe it is an end, something desirable in and of itself.
  • That's a veyr good way of looking at it.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
I'd think only libertarians act in the interest of the general public.

    >Implying that there is any political position that acts in the interest of the general public
  • you make a valid point. I was under the impression for a moment that you were Master Gelzo.
