Interacting with people who are probably mentally ill on the internet

I never know how to react, and it's always really uncomfortable.

  • How mentally ill?

My apologies. But, I am not mentally ill.

    Who are you talking about?
  • Love Happiness and another person who I don't want to mention where he can hear me.

I'm not insulting either of them, I'm just saying that I'm mildly worried about them and I don't know what to say when we end up in the same thread.

    I know who it is.

Just go with your gut. Obviously that doesn't count if your gut suggests you flame them.

    ^Also this.
  • I'm not sure if LH is trolling or just stupid, but it never occurred to me he may have a mental illness. Are you sure you don't want to mention the other guy, he may be the same person I'm thinking about. (Does that guy know this forum exists?)
  • LH has improved, slowly but surely. At least he's an optimistic buggerhead.

^^I think the other person is on this forum.

    Likes cheesecake unironically.
I think it should be pretty obvious who this other guy is. But that's all I say about that.

Concerning Love Happiness, I think he actually mentioned that he is mentally ill, but I'm not exactly sure.

^^ Funny thing is, he didn't seem very optimistic in the optimism thread (I only saw the first page though). His name makes it even funnier.

Heh, well, optimistic compared to most of our oddballs.

Except Counterclock, but she's the awesome kind of oddball.
  • There's a difference between oddball and mentally ill. Vorpy, Aliroz, and Counterclock all say weird things a lot, but I don't think any of them have serious mental issues.

    Well maybe Vorpy.
  • Well, I guess you're not counting Aspergerness or Autism, right?

Wouldn't those count as mental illnesses, though? No offense meant to anyone who may have one, of course.
  • Not really, no.

Because then I would have to count 80% of the posters on the fora
  • Ah. OK then. I do feel slightly uneasy interacting with people of this type as well, mostly because it's harder to appeal to common logic.

Counterclock is my sister at arms when it comes to weirdness, but she's on a "good" weird scale where she exists out side of the world and genrally doesn't harm anything. She tried to emulate me once a while ago but I told her to stop because there was nothing to be gained from it but attention, and she doesn't do too well with attention.

Me however, am a fish. Fish eat things. Therefore logically we should clone Hitler.

    Exactly as you did.
  • What GL said. You seem to be doing a fine job responding to such comments to me.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
I just be apathetic and watch the fireworks.

He doubts the existence of the only thing you can be fairly sure of?
