    Well, all the angels have a name, like Sachiel, Leliel, etc etc. Which are names from actual angels in the bible. Kaworu's is Tabris.

    I really don't know how it works in his case. I think that it's simply that Kaworu is a made up name so he could infiltrate NERV or something.

    Well, whether Kaworu is the last (seventeenth) Angel is debatable; some people count humanity as the last (eighteenth) Angel.

    That said, the protagonists only fight fifteen of them, starting with Sachiel (the third) through Kaworu (the seventeenth).

    That said, it's not even clear how any of this matters in the show, so whatever.

    The names, I believe, are taken not from The Bible but from various supplemental and sometimes apocryphal texts.  Reportedly, the Christian symbolism was there by Rule Of Cool.

    Well, saying who the last angel are is easily understandable without any context. Especially because it's a character that has been present all along...sort of.
