I get an email when I get a PM here... Also: The forum layout drives CentralAvenue mad

edited 2011-05-24 03:59:02 in IJBM meta
...which is annoying, because it means my email inbox gets flooded from just a single conversation. But I visit this forum infrequently enough that if I disabled the email notifications, I would almost never check my PM inbox.

tl;dr: Bluh.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    I do that.

But if I get multiple PM's from the same person, it takes up only one spot in my inbox, so it's easy to delete.
  • It does that for me, too, but I also have a Gmail notifier add-on in my browser, so when I'm having a back-and-forth conversation it keeps going off every few minutes.

But whatever, I could disable it if I wanted...

...for once, I think I may actually be too apathetic to sustain an IJBM thread.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I do too, but it doesn't make a sound.
  • I should probably disable the sound on mine. It's always annoying, anyway.

And you know, I rarely actually get emails I want to read. Probably because I don't tend to chat with anyone over email.
  • Why do my posts in this thread keep ending up below the avatar?

(Watch, this one won't, just because I said that)
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I have no idea. Some of mine do, too.
  • If the first line is too long to be able to fit on the same line as the avatar, it'll get pushed below it.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
... Dyre, look at my first post in this thread.

    Oh yeah, huh?

That is bizarre.  Usually it seems to happen as I described.  But... I guess sometimes it doesn't...

Unless you just accidentally inserted a
at the start of your post.
  • That's the one thing about this new layout that drives me insane and I'm tempted to rename this thread to make it about that.

Perhaps it's when the first line doesn't fit with the avatar and when there are more than one lines.

    -goes off to investigate-

    Well, nevermind.
  • Maybe when the first two lines don't fit by the avatar?

^^ First two lines doesn't really make sense.  If anything, that would just mean only the second line would get pushed down.

That seems to be what it is, though, judging from a bit of screwing around in the sandbox.

    First two lines.

Apparently it's not just the first 2 lines.

    Perhaps it's the whole post?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
... Wait, so if ANY of the lines are too big?
  • Yeah.  That seems to be it.

And... I can see why, actually.  Not that that makes it less annoying.

    ...
  • I was gonna say something snarky, but for some reason I'm less comfortable bitching about the layout of this site than I am TVTropes.

Probably because the admins here actually care and try to fix things.

Like that song doesn't automatically pop into your head when you hear that word.

    ...

    I was just testing something out, I swear! Stop judging me! ;_;

    I'd try and fix things if I wasn't so stupid, CA ;_;
