the PS2 Required a memory card too. the concept of a memory card was exparimental and the internal hard drive was unheard of for game systems.

Wasn't the Gamecube the first to utilize them?

    Kichigai birthday!!
We have had 2 thread's about N64's controllers in very little time. What a coincidence

    ^Memory cards? That was PSOne

    Loser
I thought those memory card things were okay, but yeah I would prefer not having to use them since I tend to misplace them or forget what game's data is on what card. Plus, I had a messed up cheap N64 memory card that would seemingly erase itself from time to time which made it rather difficult for me to play LEGO Racers and save what I did in it.

Also, when using those controller memory card things, one could not put in a rumble pack or the like, right? I guess that is another disadvantage of those memory packs.

^^Nah, the PS2 had memory cards too.

^I had one of those, too. So annoying.
  • I remember needing to use something in the controller for my N64 version of LEGO Racers, at least.

Also memory cards make much more sense than this, they're attached to the damn console rather than the controller.

But regardless, the PS2 can't save without a memory card, but the N64 was capable of saving just fine without these things.
  • well at the time there were two ways to handle the memory either store it in the cartridge or in a memory pack.
  • Not only did they need memory cards Controller Paks, but they had an absurdly small capacity. Some games by themselves require a whole one of these things to save.
