Hmm, which vintage movies do you like?
  • What kind of cartoons? Adventure Time is really good.

    -loves Adventure Time-

I'll watch anything with Bette Davis or Joan Crawford in it. With that in mind, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane was like, my dream come true. Also, not sure if it counts as vintage, but I love Death Becomes Her. Labyrinth is pretty awesome. Trying to think of some other ones...

As for cartoons, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Avatar, some other stuff. Also, old cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter.

Labyrinth, I've never saw that movie even though I was I was in high school at the time.

Death Becomes Her, that I did see.  That was an unusual role for Bruce Willis.

    Are you into musicals?
  • Yes, although the only ones I've seen thus far are Grease, Hair and Rent. I love the songs from Avenue Q, though. I really want to see it. Also, I wanna see Cats, too, just cause.

    Pony Sleuth
Oh! Superjail! is something I really enjoy. I think it might be a sort of love it or hate it kind of thing, but they really put a lot of effort into the animation.

    What about Dr. Horrible?
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
why did it take me this long to realize that Annie May = anime
  • Ever see The Brak Show, Bob?
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
    You ever see Xanadu?

    YES, LOVE THE BRAK SHOW!

Also, forgot Superjail!, love that one too. Squidbillies is awesome. I used to like ATHF before it jumped the shark.

Never saw Xanadu or Dr. Horrible. Also, even though I hate Seth McFarlane, I think American Dad is awesome.
  • Did you know they got a second season recently? It's been a while since the first, so I figure there's a chance you missed the news.

The look on my friends' faces when I first showed them The Brak Show was priceless. I think the "nose-possessing man" scene broke their usual perception of reality.

^^Yep. I like the episodes so far, but something about them bug me. I guess it's that it seems like they're trying to force some sort of continuity.

^My favorite episode (as well as the only one I can remember at the moment) has to be the one where Brak becomes a singer because he loses some body part.
  • That was Zorak. And yeah, you gotta love the pristine, soulful delivery of "My heart is fuuuulll of hatred and loooathing, for your ugly faaiiceees and stuupid, stuupid clothiiing~."

I think my favorite is either the rap contest one or the dinner party one. "MAH HEART SO PUNY IT CAN'T PUMP ENOUGH JUICE TO GET MAH LIMBS TO WORKIN'!"

  • Frick, not sure how I put "Brak" when I meant to type "Zorak".

Speaking of Frick, Scrubs amuses me even if I did stop watching it a while ago.

While the concept of America's Next Top Model sickens me, something about watching pretty girls tear each other apart intrigues me. Reality TV is my guilty pleasure (with that said, you couldn't pay me to watch Jersey Shore).
  • It's the whole prying eye curiosity that all humans have had since the dawn of their existence. Even when you know it's all constructed, the fact that they pretend you're not there is good enough for your brain, particularly your curiosity.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Somehow I'm not surprised with you liking Reality TV.  You watch American Idol?
  • You can change. You can.
Awwww, I missed the vintage movies discussion...:<

    ...

Do you like Lauren Bacall, Middie?
  • All I've seen her in is Designing Woman, which was pretty good.

    @American Idol: No. Just, no.

    Ah, you some standards.

I don't think you should worry that much about not being able getting into anime.  I used to like back in the 80's but I just lost interest in much of it eventually.  I think part of it is that a lot of Japanese humor doesn't seem to be all that funny to me.  Korean or Chinese humor, now I find it more humorous.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    Start with Cowboy Bebop, Bob.
  • Speaking of anime, someone threw out some anime VHS tapes near my apartment. I think it's like a box set of the last half of Cowboy Bebop, and there's another tape with a couple of episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho in the original Japanese.

Good thing I still have a VHS player. But I guess I have to watch the first few episodes of Cowboy Bebop online first.
  • You can change. You can.
Cowboy Bebop is amazing, actually. It's probably the westerniest anime ever.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
why did it take me this long to realize that Annie May = anime

I realized that just now myself. But I still don't know what Eddy Mac refers to.
  • Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
  • You can change. You can.
why did it take me this long to realize that Annie May = anime?

In my case, because we don't pronounce anime as Annie May so much as Annie meh.
  • No rainbow star

HOLY CRAP I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T FIGURE OUT ANNIE MAY!

...Still no idea about Eddy Mac

-also has no idea about Eddy Mac-
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    A-Nuh-May here.
  • I figured Annie May since long ago, and I still don't have the faintest idea what an Eddy Mac is.
