When a secondary character is more interesting than the main character

It feels odd to be seeing the story from the perspective of a secondary character since usually it's designed around the primary character. It's interesting how much a different viewpoint can change what a story is about, though. That's the point of Garfield Minus Garfield, after all.

    I'm not a particularly heavy fan of Final Fantasy, but it seems to me that series has this is SPADES, according to various fans I've listened to.

    I cant stand a boring protagonist; I wish I wouldn't have to grit and deal with it every so often. Plenty of these stories have all kinds of complex characters, yet somehow the protagonist is just so... flat. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? One would think the character you put the most time into would be the most developed one.

    ^I dunno, sounds crazy to me...

    Cyborg 009 is this scenario, except it's all 8 of your secondary characters being more interesting than your main character.

    Not that that was a bad thing.

    Jokes aside, never had it happen to me. Although that's because I'm a comic fan. No character in Superman/Action Comics can be more interesting than Supes, same goes to Batman, Flash, Spiderman, etc etc.

    Clannad would have been a hundred times better if Fuuko were the main heroine instead of Nagisa.  I dunno how that would work, but it would be cute.

    Or really, even if it were Tomoyo instead of Nagisa.  That would also actually make sense, unlike if it were Fuuko.  So Tomoyo is my real choice for character better than the main character.
