Pretentious A-holes Insult Extra Credits Behind Their Backs

edited 2011-05-23 01:47:12 in General
Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Here's a link to the site with only slightly less assholes per post than 4Chan. http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=880766#880766 Anyways, this website's community is known for it's extreme hatred of Fallout 3 and Bethesda and probably have a shrine to Chris Avellone next to their computer (the Fallout bible is their equivilent to te bible). Apparently because Bethesda did one thing (actually a few things) better than Obsidian did and Extra Credits commented on this now they are insulting them, assuming random facts and just plain being D-bags. All on another website. I challenged the poster to email the guy and share his views, but I'm not sure the community has the balls to leave their collective of Fallout 3 hatred. And if anyone who helps create that show sees this you should definatly go and defend your views there, might be a losing battle but you may change a few minds. EDIT: Screw it, just speculate and give your opinion here. I got caught up in a moment of irrational thought and now I just want your opinion. SECOND EDIT: I don't even think many of them hate the episode because of what it talks about. They hate it because it says Fallout 3 had a better tutorial than NV did.

Ugh, these people are such dicks.
  • its love

    but its tough love

you gotta learn to take it
  • You can't do stuff behind people's backs on the internet, unless it is a closed-off forum.
  • I'm sorry, but there is no excuse for accusing a character without amnesia of having amnesia. They are getting their just reward for their sins.

  • «They hate it because it says Fallout 3 had a better tutorial than NV did.»
    Wasn't NV the buggy one?
  • This is why I'm glad I don't play Fallout.
  • Fallout 3 is definitely worth playing, it just isn't worthy of being a sequel to the first two. Really, I'd recommend playing any of them.
  • Well, I did play Fallout 3, but eventually I kinda got lost. And I have Fallout 2, but the combat is....meh.

I wish someone could make an ASCII roguelike with as much of a story as Fallout 2, that would be sweet.
  • All games even remotely associated with Bethesda are vibrant nests of bugs.
  • They think New Vegas is buggy, they should try Daggerfall.
  • I would Fallout 3 if VATS wasn't pratically required to hit something.

It's cool, but holy fuck, fix that damn aiming.
  • Fallout 1 had a great bug where, when gambling, the largest bet had odds such that, if you bet enough, it was bound to come out in your favour. If you just held down two keys, you could get infinite money. It wasn't even really a bug, just something poorly scripted.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
Aren't all bugs the result of poor scripting?
  • I love both Fallout III and New Vegas. play on PC iwht mods and it's awesome! Also Chagen just made me think of somthing strange. what would The Moral Substitute for these games be like?
  • Sometimes the game just glitches when being written to the disk or something similar.
  • This is why i'm glad we live in an age when patches can be added post facto.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
NMA is a terrible place, if you ever play fallout of any kind, never visit.
    It ruins everything.
  • everyone knows Fallout 1 wasthe only truly good game!
  • You can change. You can.
It's cool, but holy fuck, fix that damn aiming.

It's easier to not use VATS, actually. VATS relies on possibility...aiming relies on skill...

All you have to do is to adapt to the new aiming system. Not hard, actually. In fact, you don't even have to worry about recoil. I'd say that's pretty cool and it eases stuff up.

  • So what endings do you all favor in New Vegas?

  • Strangely enough, I believe Sawyer and several things in the game confirmed the Courier does not have amnesia, although he might have cerebral or frontal lobe damage depending on your stats. Note how he also complains about not waking up with your items. Odd, I found that my energy weapons doctor nerd woke up with some extra stims and a laser pistol, but hey, it sounds like he only made 1 character and immediately went back to the mentally stimulation that only Fallout 3 can bring. Not to mention, he wants some asinine shit ("Woah man, it would be so cool if I had, like, an photo in my inventory, because that would imply I might have been a former photographer if I thought hard enough") for the character to start out with. Also, I think Fallout 3 gave you the same shit no matter how you spec'd your character (Vault security gear, 10mm Pistol with 300 rounds, 15 stims, BB gun, baseball bat and hat).

He also complains about how DEEP AND IMMERSIVE it would be if you could have perks that gave background to your character before he was shot. Yeah, dude, I think the game might already have those. They're called traits. Fallout 3 didn't have them because 12-year olds are confused by having the option to take something that both helps and hurts them at the same time. Don't know why you started babbling on about RTS units after that.

He mentions that not having a three-act structure or in media res causes you to have a rushed ending and characters you can't relate to. Well, shit, I never related to my god damn Dad in Fallout 3, but I felt for most of the companions and other characters in Fallout New Vegas. Dunno how that happened. Maybe it's because you only talk to Dad for 5 minutes increments 4 times throughout the game and he only talks in Lawful Stupid idealism and Bible quotes.

Hell, anyone feel like helping me make some sort of parody-esque video response to this? This guy needs a stern talking to about his pretentious ways. This isn't just a one-time thing with this guy, he's did overthought 10 minute videos on how Missile Command has great but subtle narrative, and how you should "gamify" education by making smart children mandatorily work with lazy children to get an A.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    Assholes? Not on my Internet.

^ Didn't you go wankers back when over whether some dude from New Vegas had amnesia or not?

    Also, lolopinions
  • I don't agree with everything they're saying, but the fact remains that they made a mistake, and now they're getting called on it.
  • Honestly I'm dissipated that Benny wasn't a potential follower. Now THAT would ahve been interesting.
  • 1. People have already pointed this out to him. Although the Escapist forums is filled with idol worship like every forum is (Yes, even ours. Don't fucking act like you wouldn't blow Tim Cain or Chris Avellone if you saw them), people have told him that the Courier has no amnesia, starts with stuff based on his skills, and has Traits that can be used to imagine a back story. However, he kind of just blew them off, and said, "Yeah, whatever, Fallout 3 still has a better story because hiking and getting Bible quotes from your fake Dad is like the most immersive shit ever," and then ran off and began writing more pretentious stuff.
  • Also, Forzare, you better not be Blatherscythe or whatever that loser's name is.
  • No rainbow star
"(Yes, even ours. Don't fucking act like you wouldn't blow Tim Cain or Chris Avellone if you saw them)"

I don't even know who those people are
  • He's quoting a guy from NMA.
  • Chris Avellone hell yes.
