Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
This is...a bit hard to describe, so I'll just give a pretty indicative example: When I first became interested in Voltron (many years ago), I would mentally perk up every time the word "volt" was used.

This happens to me particularly when a character I like has a common name. Particularly when that also happens to be a common word.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
It almost seems to be a part of fan myopia. As you associate something unrelated to the work you are interested in.
  • This happens to me, as well. When I was Alice in Wonderland-obsessed a few months ago, every instance of the name "Alice" stuck out to me, as did references to mushrooms, etc.

Right now it's happening with the word "pony". Oh, and "pester".
