The recent Lucky Star thread made me realize recently that, given how tied into the anime pop culture of 2006-2007 it is, Lucky Star has not aged well at all since it first aired, and this effect is only going to get stronger as time goes on. At the time, in its own context, the show was great, but now, I just kind of feel like I could be watching something else when I watch it (unlike, say, Azumanga Daioh, which retains its punch even to this day).
It's kind of tragic in its own way.

amount of animé (which will probably be never) for that reason.
you don't even need to know what they are referencing/parodying most of the time since it won't make ANY sense either way.
There's also the fact that Lucky Star doesn't really have that many anime references, all truth be told, and much of the dialogue makes perfect sense (or in some cases, as much sense as it ever did) with or without the context. I mean, I'm sure "balsamic vinegar" is timeless.
^Ba-ZING.
That's right, just jealous...

Now I can see why even Ponicalica doesn't like him...
Doesn't Excel Saga parody genres instead of shows? It can stand the test of time a lot better than reference-based humour.
Yes, on both accounts.
No.
Okay!
