These things are like crack--you know you should stop playing, but you just want some more.

I'm about to try out this one called Gear Head. It's a anime-inspired Mecha roguelike. Let's hope it's fun...

    Also try Z.H.P. Project for the PSP.

    Desktop Dungeons is fine for a time crunch.

    And finally, I'll second Powder. It has several ports.

    Got Gear Head working.

    I'm an 18-year-old Mecha Designer (both of my parents were as well). I'm skilled in non-combat affairs, especially science and making things.

    Let's see how the story pans out...

    Which is kinda impressive, given that all I did was kill a rat. This woman wanted me to kill it because it was interfering with work.

    She gave me an old spare mecha for the noble act of killing a rat.

    I have a feeling that this mecha is not very high-quality.

    Ugh.

    I was grinding in nearby mines and got swamped by rats. They killed me, but Gear Head doesn't have permadeath--I awoke in a hospital.

    I went down again. Got swamped by rats again.

    Except this time, I backed off and threw a goddamn incendiary grenade at them.

    Killed them. Fuck YES.

    Seriously gotta recommend Gear Head, guys. The interface is much more intuitive than most roguelikes, the combat is fun, and there's an actual plot to be found in the game. 

    And Mechas. 

    You can't go wrong with Mechas. You just can't.

    I wish this game let you just flat-out rip through a town with a mecha.

    I made a Chaotic evil girl for kicks, but frag grenades and auto-shotguns just aren't cutting it.

    Also, I love how they heal you if you die even if you just slaughtered the whole damn town.
