    Kyubey is somehow more of a total dick than Drosselmeyer from Princess Tutu, which is no small feat.  That's at least why I don't like him, anyway.

    Yeah, I suppose.  My statement was, I guess, more based just on the fact that the total amount of shittiness in the world caused by Kyubey was significantly greater than that caused by Drosselmeyer, and both had the whole doing-whatever-they-want-with-no-regard-for-the-people-they're-affecting thing.

    I get that he's a Complete Monster, but it's just that he gets more hate than most Complete Monsters. You don't see artists rushing to danbooru and making hate art of Johan Liebert.

    Plus, it steadily becomes more and more apparent that his 'trying to be as humane as possible' and 'we gave your species a choice' thing is largely a crock of bullshit, given that his modus operandi mostly consists of emotionally manipulating little girls in a manner that he keeps entirely secret from the rest of humanity.

    Basically, the production team decided to capitalise on the hate that cute mascots in magical girl shows usually get by making theirs (a) genuinely creepy, and (b) actively evil. The fanbase, of course, gleefully went along with it, and Kyuubey-abuse became a somewhat tongue-in-cheek meme.
