Turtling is a viable strategy in Starcraft

Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
And it's fucking annoying. These Terran players just sit I'n their base and amass a fleet of Battlecruisers, and it's really hard for me, as a Zerg player, to deal with it.

  • But you never had any to begin with.
Surely it's better than France in Red Alert 2. "Hello, I am the Grand Cannon. You came within 500 miles of me. Prepare to die."
  • To be or not to be? That is the question.
    Turtling in Starcraft?

Terrans: The aforementioned Battlecruisers, along with those Siege Tanks. Those Kamikaze Zerg Air units can deal with the Battlecruisers, but the Terran enemy might have some Anti-Air units.

Protoss: Mass Carriers = Instant Win.

Zerg: I honestly have no idea. Maybe a Fortified mutalisk group?

Turtling can turn Strategy games into wars of Attrition and resource competition.
  • ^^ Clearly you need to learn the strategy of 9x prism tanks chronosphered into the enemy's powergrid supply.

    It's very satisfying.

Zerg can't turtle. They have no real way to wall off.

    :(

They have but one VERY IMPORTANT quality:

    They are the coolest race.

    INDEED.

    FOR THE SWARM.

  • All I know about the Zerg is that they are apparently completely designed for mass rushdown and Firepower through Quantity.

    /doesn't play starcraft

T-T-T-Torrrrrrrrent! In any case, they don't work all that great for such purposes. Other races can zerg rush just as well (except you might feel a little bad about sending wave after wave of marines to their deaths).

I have tried playing Starcraft before.

Though a friend gave me Brood War.  I can't figure out how to win the first mission.

Yeah, I tend to suck at these things.  I prefer AoE mostly because I get to build stuff and manage my workers and resources and advancement activities.
  • Starcraft II is even more micro intensive, you probably wouldn't like it.

I found the first Brood War mission particularly hard.

If memory serves, the rest of the expansion assumes you played the classic game and throws beginner-unfriendly missions with much of the old game's technology availible and no explanations as to what things do.
  • ^^^ AOE is far superior to Starcraft.

Yeah, Brood War is an expansion, not a sequel, so the difficulty starts a lot higher.
