My geography teacher's powerpoints

Bright colors, abuse of WordArt and sans-serif fonts, and background [images] that make the bright colors even more jarring. I know not everyone is a graphic designer, but these powerpoints are so tacky that they hurt my eyes.

  • Powerpoint is one program whose net contribution to education has, I think, been squarely in the negative since its inception.
  • Yeah, basically, instead of taking notes from a textbook, we take notes from a projection screen. At least textbooks are less likely to be aesthetically abhorrent.
  • I've seen a few aesthetically abhorrent textbooks in my day, but yeah, Powerpoints, teachers, ugh.
  • It's even worse when they assign students the task of making their own powerpoint presentations, and then have them deliver them in class.

Do you hear that? That's the sound of one hour of my life that's not coming back. Thank you very much, Mrs. I-Couldn't-Hack-It-In-The-Real-World-So-I-Joined-The-Land-Of-Socialists-And-Unions.
  • Eh, I don't mind making powerpoints myself at all, actually. However, I most certainly do not enjoy presenting them, and I hate having to go through those of my classmates.
  • Your geography teacher has power points? He has the psionic augmentation class feature, then?

    La vie en rose
Only the small text in the teacher's handbook mentions that power points have technological magical difficulties 50% of the time, and the students do not get a fortitude throw to save their faith in humanity when this inevitably occurs.
  • *has never had any problems with using PowerPoint* O_________o

  • Did you use pictures? Some people use pictures that are bigger than the freaking monitor and just paste them there and let the program shorten them and it takes forever to load. Not to mention the problem with all the different version formats, or if you don't want to get raped up the ass by Microsoft's prices and end up going with a free alternative like OpenOffice instead, which makes the format conversions even more fun.

    The horror... *twitches*

Let's not get into those presentations that my regional climate professor would make, wherein each slide had multiple pieces, and EACH piece was accompanied by a clicking noise.

    Also, Tomu wins this thread.
