Tanking isn't a viable strategy in Beyblade.

Now that I got a full-on stadium, I've been running Beyblade battles, and it seems that Beyblade is biased towards attacking. My defense based one always loses. Dammit, I wanted to tank. Also, putting these things back together is annoying.

    There's strategy in Beyblade?
  • ..it's spinning tops!
  • How does the top defend against inertia?

  • I'm annoyed when tanking isn't efficient anywhere, since I like defense.

Well except for in Yu-Gi-Oh! but that's only because I think the attack heavy monsters look too much cooler for me to care.
  • Generally, tanking generally isn't efficient because it's a strategy that tends to piss a lot of people off. Drawing out the game into a war of attrition isn't many players' idea of fun.

    Beyblade and Strategy....

Those words don't work together unless we're talking about the tv show.
Beyblade the toy requires about a much  strategy as gambling.

Gambling (at least some forms, such as Blackjack) requires much strategy.

Which is why I only do slots, because I suck at thinking.

I should've been more specific and simply said Roulette.

Oh, that one. It's fun to watch people who actually think it takes more than luck try to "win" the game.

But not Russian Roulette. That never turns out well.
  • "How does the top defend against inertia?"

Defense based tops are heavier and stay in one place to conserve momentum. Their attack rings quite often are solid and "wall-like", so attacks just bounce off and don't slow their spin down. Their tips are often designed to conserve momentum.

Atrack tops are light and move around like crazy. They also have atrack rings dedicated to agressively catching and attacking the opposing top.

Wait...Beyblade is a shonen sports series about competitive rotational physics?
  • The Japanese will make a shonen series out of frigging anything.  You should know this by now.

Does it actually involve either actual physics knowledge or top design (or both)?
  • I've used beyblades before, and I can tell you that the defense/attack/...something I think it was "spin" or whatever are pretty much bullshit. So I don't think they're really going to try much when it comes to be accurate with physics (in both the anime and RL.)

So basically, top-fighting is a real activity, but Beyblade is not realistic about it?

...you have seen shonen anime before, yes?
  • Beyblades are better than the usual tops though, in terms of how well they spin and last.
