We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year

  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
If I were to choose the albums I know you should listen to, they would be:

    * Funeral: An album of life, love, and loss pinned by an undercurrent of inward humanity and the growing pains of realizing the world is different from what you had once envisioned, but only because people have stopped caring to make it so; and that the adult humanity of that is balanced by the childlike awe and idealism of making the world a better place.

    * Discovery: An incredibly, almost impossibly happy and optimistic dance album that uses themes of love and partying and fun to express oneself outwards. It's upbeat, catchy, and manages to not fall into the usual techno traps of repetitivity and roboticism.

Also, listen to the Radiohead albums in order (OK Computer, then Kid A, then Amnesiac, then In Rainbows). Illinois is better than Greetings From Michigan!, and Wish You Were Here is better than The Wall.

There are plenty of other great albums in there (Are You Experienced?, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Aquemeni, Paul's Botique, etc.) but I've not yet gotten around to them either.

Finally, look into Source Tags & Codes, Merriweather Post Pavilion, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, The ArchAndroid, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, The Moon & Antarctica, Loveless, Stankonia, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, The Bends, The Age of Adz, Elephant, and Who's Next.

Thanks; I Think I'll go listen to Funeral right now...

Though note that a few of them (particularly The Moon & Antarctica and Loveless) are rather difficult to parse. What genres do you not listen to?
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
Do Five Iron Frenzy despite ska being for 13 year olds, their songs are quality.
