It doesn't make sense at all. Considering how simmilar they are it seems kind of strange ot me.

  • Why can't similar things hate each other?

    Tnu1138,

I think it depends on how you define the terms "radical conservative" and "radical Islam" as to whether what you say is true.

If your definition of "radical conservative" is more of the libertarian, small government is preferable to any other type of government, I think that is quite different from the government in Saudi Arabia which is quite authoritarian and places all kinds of restrictions on what people can do.

If your definition of "radical conservative" is the big government conservatism that says that it is the government's job to enforce morality, then I could kind of understand what you mean, but I still think that even people with those views still have at least some respect for freedom of religion even if they would like moral values from their religion to be included in government and enforced by it.

I suppose if you define "radical conservative" as someone who wants theocracy, then I can see your point, but I do not know of many people in the U.S. or Europe would advocate such a thing. Then again, I suppose that radicals tend to be fairly uncommon anyway, so if that is your point then I could definitely be right.
  • Libertarian Conservativism? Does not compute Conservativsim bny its very nature isn't Libertarian but has Social Authoritarian and often Corperetist aspects.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
  • That's actually pretty good GL
  • Inside, too dark to read
@OP: Oh please. If they were so similar, progressives would hate or love both.
  • You're saying progressives love radical Islam?

    Seriously?

I don't think "progressives" are really fond of radical Islam so much as radical conservatives are a much more immediate concern of theirs.

The more radical you get, the less compatable competing religions are.

    This.

Similarly, I would argue that many if not most conservatives regard Islam as the greater threat.
