People who buy indvidual songs on stuff like iTunes
When a ton of people are only buying individual songs (almost always singles) basically makes the emphasis on a band to create only more mainstream, marketable songs. While it's obviously not going to be "omg the end of all music" stuff, it is going to be a problem for bands whose music is more of a theme album, or is otherwise less marketable. Plus, think of how many times a single was different from the actual album it came from (like "The Real Slim Shady" compared to every other song on that album).

Is this really that big a problem, though? Most of the progressive rock bands (whose albums are conceptual more often then not) that I know of have no problem making a decent amount of sales.
I've never gotten an entire album, and would not do so unless it consisted of kickass songs.
Umad?

You mean like the entire music industry for the past 70 years or so?
But I'm thinking of starting (more for their TV shows than for music though). Is it worth it?
I buy single songs. Cause why not?
I do still buy full albums in cases where the number of songs I like means it's cheaper to buy the album than to buy the songs individually. The way I see it, though, is that it's up to the artist to prove to me that the album is worth being purchased as a package deal.
I've never bought an album where I didn't like nearly every song. And I can use CD's in my mom's car too, I hate buying only individual songs.
