Interdisciplinary Studies

Take the Cliff's Notes of literature, philosophy, art history, linguistics, political science, gender studies, anthropology, history and what have you. Blend. End up with no idea what you're actually studying anymore, except for the vague concept of 'theory'. Ecocriticism's on schedule next semester, possibly adding biology to the mix.

It's not that the courses themselves aren't internally concise, but the study as a whole is so scattershot it seems geared towards people who already know what they're going to do later, and can pick subjects based on that.

    Interdisciplinary Studies are awesome, bro.

Or you could pick a topic of study that's actually something you're interested in, and then build your classwork (including but not limited to interdisciplinary classes) to fit that goal.
  • It varies from interesting to terribly superficial from tutorial to tutorial, depending on what the topic du jour is. I'm going to do international teacher training afterwards anyway, so a wide range of subjects isn't that big an issue, but I have a few classmates who firmly fall in the Indian Underwater Handbasket Weaving category. The study as a whole could fit together a tad better instead of a series of case studies; sometimes theories even get treated twice in the same manner in two different classes.
