Leveling up skills in Oblivion.
I'm currently using the rubber band trick to have my character sneak in a corner with the blades and the emperor nearby to get sneak up to 100 while doing other things (like typing this) so I can be that much better at going on killing sprees before even getting my first level up, but now that I'm a Journeyman in that skill (64 at the time of this posting), it's taking forever.

Like the leveling system.
I use the Oblivion XP mod, which basically replaces the leveling system with a getting XP from killing stuff/doing quests and then being able to choose which skills and attributes increase when you level up. It's nice.
Without it, leveling up is terrible.
Oh, and if you do it the way you're doing, you're going to end up with shitty attribute bonuses on level up since you're just increasing one skill.
Mysticism however is worthless, except that you need to raise it to get bonuses for Intelligence, which is one of the few stats that actually matters.
And dodging attacks is mostly pointless. You're better off just having good armor and carrying potions. But acrobatics still helps you get around quicker, since you can jump over things instead of having to go around them.
I like to make a 1 second Detect Life spell that way I can level up my Mysticism.
I like to mash the Auto-attempt button on the controller to level up my lockpick once I buy 20 stones worth of them.
Really, like half the skills in the game are completely pointless and only seem to exist for flavor.
Although I am neither.
Lockpicking is useless because of the skeleton key.
Speechcraft and Mercantile are useless because of the Charm and Fortify Skill spells (which require far fewer levels in their respective skills to make full use of).
Light Armor is strictly inferior to Heavy Armor when both skills are at 100.
Blunt weapons are generally worse than Blade weapons, and there's less of them too.
Restoration isn't terribly useful apart from 1 second Fortify Skill spells, since healing spells cost too much MP to be useful and the potions you make from Alchemy are way better.
Weapons in general suck compared to Destruction magic, though that's only if you also have really high Intelligence and Willpower, so it's not always worthless to use a weapon.
Sneak is useless because of the Chameleon enchantment.
Trying to avoid attacks in general is pointless because you can get 100% reflect damage and 100% reflect magic at the same time, but of course that's probably a little too cheap for most people...
Personality attribute has no effect on anything except speechcraft and mercantile stuff, and you can make a Fortify Personality 1 Second 100 Points spell for those situations if you should need it.
Etc.
^ Indeed.
Morrowind's better, anyway.

It also had the infinitely more interesting game world and in-game lore, and with the proper graphics mods in place, the graphics are arguably better than those in Oblivion.
From the looks of Skyrim, though, I think that game's likely to trump both of these.
Dunno about Skyrim since I haven't been paying much attention to it since my computer won't be able to handle it.
Elder Scrolls is bad and you should feel bad for liking it.
