I remember reading today an article where a Psychologist stated that all humor boils down to one thing: Benign Violation.

Achmed is pretty much a Benign Violation of our expectations of a terrorist, which is what is supposed to make him funny. Whether or not he is actually funny is a different matter.

I'm a slightly bigger fan of Walter than I am of Achmed.  But Achmed is good too.  Then again, I've only seen a few of his shows.
