"How dare the president take credit for what the army did!"

The American Government controls the American armed forces. That is how this works. That is how this has always worked.

  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
But don't you know that the President of the United States has never been the Commander in Chief of the armed forces? Silly Myrm.
  • It makes as much sense as a mayor saying he caught a serial killer because he orders the cops around.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    I seriously can't tell if that's sarcastic.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Different cases, actually- the President ordered this one directly, didn't he?
  • Yes, he specifically said to use SEALS.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Yes, he specifically chose to use a ground force rather than bombing from orbit.

He shouldn't be given credit for finding Bin Laden, but he should be given credit for the raid itself.
  • Why not? You know if the operation went bust and the SEALs died, you know who would get all the blame?

    Obama.

    Why not the inverse?
  • I certainly would have placed the blame on the SEALs if those stupid fuckers went and got themselves killed.

  • Considering that Bush actively worked against actually finding bin laden. I think it's fair to say that Obama really did find him.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
"Considering that Bush actively worked against actually finding bin laden."

    Wait, what?
  • That seems like a bit of a stretch, but sending us into Iraq when we most needed those resources and infrastructure to hunt for bin Laden certainly didn't help.
  • Why not? You know if the operation went bust and the SEALs died, you know who would get all the blame?

Probably no one as it wouldn't have merited national attention as anything other than a botched mission.
  • ^^^ He has stated during his presidency that he was not interested in finding bin laden. He shut down a CIA project to find bin laden. His secretary of defense called off a mission to capture bin laden when we knew where he was.

Frankly. The fact that we haven't gotten bin laden until now it BUSH'S fault. We could've had him in 2002!
  • Glaives are better.
Anyone who tries to find a way to fault Obama for his handling of this situation needs to get his head examined. I say this as a Republican, a Conservative and as someone who really just doesn't like the man. He's the Commander-in-Chief of the US military, and, not only that, personally signed off on the mission.

True, he didn't personally gun down bin Laden, nor did he find bin Laden, track him down or handle Team Six's deployment to Pakistan. He didn't make sure the SEALs kept fit, or spoon--feed them. He's still responsible for the mission, though.

This is a great victory, not just for America but for humanity. No one, regardless of their party,  should try to use this as a political stunt.

I'm not sure you understand politics.
