Lack of motion-simulator rides in arcades.

You know those rides? You sit in a seat, with a big screen ahead of you. A video is played thats shows you barreling down a track of some kind, and the seat shakes and bumps along with the video, so it feels like you're really riding it.

I wish more places had those. My local Dave & Buster's installed one called Typhoon; I tried it today when I was there and it was awesome.

  • The Center Of Science And Industry (COSI) in Columbus used to have one of those.

They got rid of it in like 2004 or 2005 because of budget cuts, though. Along with a room full of vintage arcade machines.

When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
I always love those, although it only seems to be in theme parks. The Star Wars one in Disney MGM Studios Florida is a particular favorite. As is the one in the National Air and Space Museum.

    ^WHY
  • Glad to know that others like them as well.

Typhoon was freakin' sweet. It even had fans that blasted you in the face as the "ride" got faster.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    I love these too.
  • I'm gonna buy my own one for personal use one day.

The perfect way to start the day.
  • The real problem is not lack of these things in arcades.  I see them all over the place.

The real problem is that BattleTech: Firestorm isn't common in arcades.
  • I hate how arcades are dying in America.

Home playing might be fun, but nothing beats going to the arcade with your friends,
  • Dying?

    They're already quite dead.
  • Yet they live on in Japan. And probably Europe.
  • As someone who's ridden in a fully capable one which can rotate in all directions. Most of the rides you talk about feel very...crappy by comparison.

Also. That ride put me in control of a fighter jet. So it was like a full on simulation.
  • They're somethin' else.
^^^^ You and me both, Chagen. You and me both.
  • I'd have to agree those are cool also motion sensor games like Police 911 or one of those boxing games.
  • Poot dispenser here
Yeah, I'm mostly a PC gamer myself, but I can still see the appeal (however nostalgic) in arcades.
  • But you never had any to begin with.
Yet they live on in Japan. And probably Europe.

    Not in England, they don't.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    How would that even work?
  • Kichigai birthday!!
They are dead in Europe as well.
