The weapon you get for beating the final boss in Riviera: the Promised Land really fast...

...seeing how there's no post-game event where you can use that, and no event at all after the battle ends, what's the point...?

  • So that you can see the game acknowledged your accomplishment, of course.

But you don't even get to see the damn stats on the thing. Or use it once.

It's not even an obviously useless trophy thing, it's a usable weapon.
  • True, that's kind of silly compared to other examples of this kind of thing.  At the very least, they could have probably just made it not a weapon so you wouldn't be curious about its stats.

Is this that game where it's basically battle scenes one after the other in hallways and you have to spend points in order to take actions?  Or is that Yggdra Union?

To be or not to be? That is the question.
I have yet to play Riviera: The Promised Land. I have played Yggdra Union, and you have to spend points on movement in the battle field. Movement also depends on the cards you are using, since they have points that allow you to move, so you better use them wisely.

I played the very beginning of that game, and found myself wondering, why the hell do I have to spend points to move around?

It seemed like a very complex game where the complexity didn't necessarily match up with the in-game action.  See, I can justify having to spend some sort of conceptual action point to unlock a treasure chest.  I cannot justify having to do that to peer over a ledge.

The gameplay was rather easy to me...

Well, learning how to use it well, anyway. The enemies and stuff were still Atlus Hard.

I tried using one guy's ability and it shattered the overdrive bar.  I was like, wut.
  • They explain it to you really fast, don't they?

They're like the most Awesome But Impractical thing in the game.

So, wait, you get a weapon for what can be considered speedrunning the whole game through and you don't even know the stats?

...How good is this game, in general?

I would say it is decent (has almost zero replay value for me though) and by "really fast" I just meant the boss battle itself. I think. Either that or clear the stage really fast, don't remember.

Oh, so it's a "play it once, trade it off for another game" sort of game?
  • Yeah. Unless you're a 100% sort of person.

It's like the Wyrmhero Blade on FFXII, which you obtain the parts by killing both of the extra superbosses, and completing the fishing minigame.

It's the strongest weapon in the game, but there is nothing left to use it on except for the story boss.
  • No that's better because you actually can use it, while this can't be used on anything, not even the bonus boss since your items are swapped for more standard ones in that battle.
