No, seriously, I don't give a shit.

And I don't see why anyone else does.

Categorized in "media" because I keep on hearing about it on the evening news, and I'm sick of this.

People do this in the States too? I figured it was confined to the countries that they are actually royalty in.

    But, yeah, annoying.

The same reason people give a shit about celebrities getting divorced, or beating their children, or having sex on camera?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
But the marriage of two people who have absolutely no effect on politics or our lives whatsoever only happens, like, once a week or so.

Also who take tax money for wedding and security, in times of austerity.

NBC Nightly News just now said that there's a lot more U.S. media there than U.K. media, heck.

Your media is so much more cheesy, from Charlie Brooker's overview it looks diabetes causing to just watch.
  • The same reason any other celebrity event seems to attract attention

^^^ Well, to be fair, we have a lot more networks. ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, etc. Britain, to my knowledge, has 4 and the BBC.

WE have sky and all those other channels, plus all the different ones like ITV 1 2 and 3. or BBC 1 2 3 4 etc.
  • Seriously. Why even bother keeping up this charade Britons? The royals have no power, they're just there because why? You'd feel bad asking the queen to step down because you stopped needing her decades ago?

I hate them, I'd happily have a nice republic.

It would be weird if the UK became a republic. I mean, partially because they'd kinda have to change their name, but also because the queen would still be head of state in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, et cetera, but not in the country she actually lives in.

@CommandoDude: Because tradition.  And it isn't even hurting anyone; if anything Queen Elizabeth II is actually quite progressive politically.

Because you never know what you might see.
I'm sure this is shallow, but I'd sooner see the union fall apart than the country become the United Republic.

Actually, I'd kind of like to see Scotland and Wales become independent and Ireland reunited, and I don't think getting rid of the monarchy would be worth the backlash, the blow to our international image or the endless constitution-related paperwork, so the above isn't really saying much.

I doubt that we'd actually ever be able to get rid of the monarchy.
