We had the same thing last year, with the Tropies. The difference is that now it's spread into 5 different threads that diverged from their purpose 4 pages in and never got a clear results because an organized effort at doing anything would offend the sensibilities of the IJBM people integrating into YF.

Hey, I cannot help it that I am so popular (yeah, I am joking, sorry).

On a more serious note, I am not a fan of those types of threads either. I think they encourage the wrong kind of mindset about attention (i.e. that getting more of it is generally better) and I believe that they are a magnet for "why has no one mentioned me yet" and "I cannot believe so many people like me" types of posts that I dislike a good deal in the gushing topic (which I should probably stop reading).

I do not think that people really have a bad intent when making them or posting in them though. I imagine they just want to compliment other tropers.
