The point is that you can't sustain yourself entirely on earthly things, which is why it just says "alone", thereby implying that you need more than one thing. The word of God is "spiritual nourishment", if you will.

I capitalize the Bible and God when referring to Them with pronouns.

I just started doing it. Not sure why. But They are always capitalized as pronouns.
