My story concepts always look crappy on paper.
I just wrote out the background to my Touhou fanfic for critique on Doujinstyle.
...Wow, this thing looks like shit. It sounded really awesome in my head, because it was fleshed out really well. But it would take like 30 pages to explain it all.
And I used A Nazi By Any Other Name....I really want to keep the use of that trope in, though.

Also, yeah, most of the time when you imagine an anime-style idea in your head, it loses a LOT of it's content when being transferred to writing. You aren't brainstorming too many visual things to add, are you?
Touhou characters are for the most part Japanese-ish (well, they're mostly yōkai and whatnot, but presumably they'd look more like a Japanese person than they would a European person).
Needs to be done.
Also, despite the name and clothes, Marisa is
JapaneseGensokyan. It doesn't matter WHAT the premise of the story is, WHAT the tropes are, or WHAT its title is.
What matters the most is the style and skill with which it is written. If you can organize your writing in a golden way, then you can make anything gold.
The only reason to worry about a trope you used, is if it is something like "so bad it's horrible". Then again, that's not so much a trope as it is a statement.
