Do I have the right to privacy?

I've been thinking of talking one on one with my psychiatrist, but my problem is that my dad will just butt in and say I have no privacy, and so I can't talk without him being there.

I remember hearing that I have the right to privacy when it comes to medical appointments, so I wonder if that's true. A part of the reason that my visits never do anything useful is that I can't reveal all my personal problems in front of my dad.

That... sounds weird to me. You have a therapist, but your dad doesn't let you be with him alone? That doesn't sound right. (I honestly thought this thread was going to be about being able to close the door to your room, or having your backpack searched or something.)
  • You don't have that right as a child, IIRC. Try telling him that you can't talk when he's in the room?
