My body is weird (NOT A SEXUAL THREAD I PROMISE!)

I don't detect temperature changes immediately, unless it is a blast of wind Not a problem until it gets really cold I feel colder at -10 C than I do at -20. Why? At -20, my skin goes numb before I know its cold ...Alright, this happens at -10 as well Example: I once stood outside for at least an hour in -20 weather without feeling cold. At -5? I had to run inside within 5-10 minutes because I was freezing cold Americans: -20 C = ~ -4 F -10 C = ~ 14 F -5 C = ~ 23 F

The best part is that, even if it's not a sexual thread, I could tell immediately who made it.

It might be because at -10 your body's still adjusting to the temperature, while at -20 it knows it's far too damn cold to put up a fight and just decides to go up and quit.

And giving us the calculations for Fahrenheit is just patronizing. After all, Belize uses it too.

You're not that wierd I think.  Convection (heat loss due to fluid motion, AKA Wind Chill) is often worse than Conduction (heat loss through movement of heat without movement of matter).

Edit: ^Some Americans really aren't familiar with Celcius.

Eh, I know. IJBM when people don't know they use Fahrenheit is Belize too.

^^^ and ^^ Thing is, this happens even at temperatures that others are cold in. It's to the point where I may go outside in, say, a heavy sweater during hot weather and only know I'm hot when I feel sweat drip from my armpits, or I may go outside in, say, a t shirt and find out later that I narrowly escaped frostbite
  • I kind of get that, I could walk around in a shirt and jeans in heavy snow fall and not feel bothered but god forbid there's a slight draft in the room.
  • ^^It might be that your body doesn't tell you when it's hot or cold, or it might be that your body is better at dealing with cold / heat than most people.  You might want to discuss that with a physician.  If you have nerve damage it might be something treatable.

^ Not nerve damage. My doctors have linked it directly to my Aspergers

Also, that sounded like a commercial for a drug treatment
  • ^Eh, guess I listen to TV-audio too much.

My doctors have linked it directly to my Aspergers

Ah, now we're getting somewhere.  I'd never heard of that before.  My neighbors are always surprised when I go out in shorts when it's not over 80°F (27°C) but in my case it's because of excima not Aspergers.

You might get an outdoor thermometer and check it when you go out, or use a weather website so you can dress more appropriately.  It could be dangerous if you are not aware that your body is suffering.

^ I've actually shovelled the walk several times with no gloves or hat on in -30 c weather, only to come in to my parents being freaked out and finding my skin is turning white and deadish :D

So yeah, these days I usually rely on the weatherman

And yeah. I heard (not directly from my doctor) that Aspergers dulls one sense and sharpens another. I've also heard that it is due to it causing an absorption into my own world and forgetting that my body is cold. Whatever the reason, apparently my Aspergers is as fault
  • I cannot wear pants when it gets above 15 C.
