"Jesus said, 'Take from the poor and give to the rich'"

All but me and a Christian there agreed

While it was kind of funny seeing the Christian stammer confused (I think I'm part troll), it was still a point where I wish I could show them this:

  • Republicans must think that's what Jesus said.
  • The bible said that? JESUS H CHRIST THAT EXPLAINS A LOT.

Is it bad that I can actually see how the New Testament could be interpreted that way?

    ^ Explain
  • It's hard to explain. There's several passages that glorify poverty, and there's the passage with the tax collector.
  • why is it that there's this notion that the left is Robin Hood and the right is rob from the poor to give to the rich? Save Snyder and maybe Bush that seems like an odd assumption. Whatever happened to leave everything alone and it will sort itself out?

Re:The "first socialist" link: I facepalmed hard at how out-of-context those quotes were, and the name of the site, which seems to imply that rationality and religion are mutually exclusive.

    ^This.
  • Oh wow. Rational Wiki are a bunch of worthless cunts, it seems.

I'm not gonna read their articles on Christianity and Jesus, I can only assume it's more hate speech against Christians.

I doubt it's hate speech so much as woefully-ignorant-of-biblical-context speech, if the link provided is any indication.
  • Probably. I'm starting to get tired of "Fundementalist Atheists", as others have named them.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
They are basically a mirror Conservapedia, which is equally bad
  • And I thought they would be interesting and, you know, rational. I'm glad I never browsed there.
  • I'm glad I never browsed Conservapedia, RationalWiki, or ED.

"They are basically a mirror Conservapedia, which is equally bad"

Nope, Rationalwiki is inherently better because it's not Conservative.
  • GuyInWhite makes a point.
  • Doesn't make it any less ridiculous.
  • Chagen? You can't get more rediculus then Conservapedia!

Are you sure that RationalWiki isn't "Conservative"? From the article on Racism:

    CHRISTIANITY:
Overall, Christianity generally promotes tolerance. Numerous quotes in the New Testament speak to the equality of all human "races". (The Old Testament is another matter.) Christianity has historically found itself harnessed by racists, and although usually they represent small sects of the population (e.g., the Ku Klux Klan), at times Christian leaders have promoted large scale racism, such as slavery in the American South, which was fully aided and abetted by the religious institutions there.
Galatians 3:28 - "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

    ISLAM:
Apparently, Muslims do not care what "race" you are, as long as you accept Allah as the one and only God, and Mohammed as His prophet, or are one of the People of the Book. In the absence of such acceptance, the more fundamentalist sects do not regard you as worth allowing to live, whatever your "race".

Just glancing at it, it looks a tad inconsistent in format. The articles on "bad" things are bitter joking, as you'd expect. The articles on "good" things are sometimes serious, but they're sometimes reverse-sarcastic with obvious strawmen, for humor. I think I'd prefer one or the other.
