It's horribly depressing knowing that I will probably never get as good in German as I am in English. Hell, Wikipedia's Second Language Acqusition page basically says "You'll never be proficient in a second language, no matter how hard you try". The page directly states that no person could ever reach full fluency in a second language.

    Don't worry, not understanding or speaking exactly like a native would all the time won't hinder you, practically speaking.

    I seem to be abnormally good at learning grammar, though. Also, when I speak Italian words, I sound like a native speaker. Not a trace of an American accent at all.
