(I have no idea if I spelled the title right...)
I noticed that on places like 4chan and forums where a "clique" of sorts arises, the members become absolute fucking dicks.
If you're new, don't expect any help or guidance. Even asking simple questions gets you snarky asshole responses. Everyone is a giant dick to you and they expect you to continue on? This just drives away new people, meaning that the regulars stay there and the entire cycle is perpetuated in a vicious circle. Eventually, they just eithe rdie off, or new members come in and gain the same old assholish attitude. So basically they end up becoming giant cesspools of dickishness.
Why do they always gravitate towards this?

But they become dicks much faster. If you're on a forum, and you ask a question in one of the more general boards, you usually get a normal answer.
Try to ask even the slightest thing in that forums clique board, and you will have an 80% of being treated like shit for no reason. This bumps up to 110% if you make it clear that you are want to get into the clique.

?
Topic reminds me of Tvtropes's pointlessly obscure formatting rules and the snubbing people get for not using them (the old quoteblock IJBM's, anyone?)
Just, like, spend 15 minutes reading threads and you'll have a pretty decent idea of what's up.
