I imagine books as animes.

That title was bad.

Anyway, I've noticed one thing--you know how when you read a book, you're supposed to imagine it happening in your head?

Whenever I read books, I imagine them as Tv Shows in my head, with each chapter being like an episode. These "shows" always have either some charactetistics of the anime style, or basically are animes.

This gets very odd when I'm reading books like To Kill A Mockingbird.

    Memes are fine, but when they make fun of some characteristic which is completely unavoidable they're just annoying.

    The plural of «anime» is «anime».  «I imagine books as anime» works just fine.

    On-topic: Sometimes when I read a book, I imagine the characters not as themselves but as actors playing the roles of the characters in the book. It's like a movie almost, which is odd because I don't like movies and would much rather read.

    Also, I have no problem with pluralizing "animé" as "animés", with or without the accent.

    And I actually don't picture books as animé specifically, but rather as visual productions.  Though they usually vaguely live-action.

    One could argue that "anime"/"animé" as we use it is simply an English word (albeit a loanword) meaning "Japanese animation", as opposed to the Japanese word "animé" meaning simply "animation".

    It's similar to how I justify pluralizing "ninja" as "ninjas".

    I used to imagine books as the animes, because I dug Japan like nothing else, but now I realise I had a really narrow view of the world as a whole, and I tried to fit everything into it. I found books boring, but found anime interesting. So it was bound to happen. Now, I realise that 90% of both are trash.

    I usually imagine people in books as regular people now unless I decided half way through that they'd be more appropriate in another style.

    Yeah, I generally imagine characters in books as looking like real people.  The only time I don't is if the book has illustrations (and then I'll probably imagine it more like those) or something like that.
