Installing 125 of 128 important updates.

The three I'm not installing are:
* https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3034348 - ' "Access denied" error when you use a Windows Store app to configure printer property settings in Windows'
* https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3044374 - 'Update that enables you to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10' (maybe this is why I haven't been bugged to upgrade to Win10?
* a printer driver update

I'm going to hold off on the optional updates because I don't have time to consider them one by one, and I also have already some 1.3 GB of updates to install.

    Hmm, I wonder if the download progress just isn't updating or if there's an actual problem connecting to the server or something.

    I somehow remember this happening before...maybe that's why I still haven't installed these updates...

    Edit: Task Manager seems to indicate that stuff IS actually happening to my hard disk.

    Yeah, it's working correctly now.  Says 84%.

    Windows Defender is having trouble updating for some reason though.

    It finished installing today at 20:37, so about 25 minutes ago.  Time to restart...when I finish writing this stuff down from a page I was reading.

    The first problem that happened:

    Windows reverted Metapad to Notepad.  I have to go replace Notepad again.

    Seems like the update reset my folder display settings, such as smashing the filenames for my Music folder's subfolders.  Fixed.  I think.
