Nigga if they were realistic it would be a boring god damn movie. A bunch of mute behemoths eating leaves and sometimes dying. No clever raptors, just fuzzy birds eating lizards, no dramatic powerful tyrannosaurs, just mute and lazy meat eaters. Small mosasaurs, longnecks eating for 200% of the movie. WE SAW HOW REALISTIC DINOSAURS WORKED IN BBC's WwD series. Ratings dropped like the turd of a archaeornithomimus.

So yeah, fantasy license and genetic doohickery made the movie better?


Not saying you can't make realistic versions of dinosaurs. Just don't expect them to be worth the ticket admissions. or to open doors. or to ride motorcycles.

    The Jurassic Park dinosaurs were reasonably realistic by the standards of the theories that were circulating at the time the movie came out.

    There's some potential for fridge logic at work. One can say they were never supposed to be realistic, they're supposed to be the main attraction of a dinosaur theme park. Or something like that.

    ^^^ Yeah, the thing is that they made it awkwardly big for such a nobody character.

    ^ They do that in Jurassic World, the dinos are explicitly engineered to be spectacle attractions.

    Yeah, it was pretty weird too. Zara wasn't even particularly hateable, so I'm guessing it was due to something during development (the director didn't like the actor/character, or the actor requested an over-the-top death scene)
