"Don't doublepost! Use the edit button!"

edited 2014-04-22 15:34:45 in Webspace

I see this on some forums.

Basically, someone will reply to more than one post in the thread, and make each reply its own post. Then, some mod will come and merge the posts into one and say "use the edit button, stop making multiple posts!"

I don't get it. What's the problem with having one or more consecutive posts if they're each saying, you know, a separate thing? Massive single posts with half a dozen quotes in them (*waves to GMH*) are annoying and much harder to read than multiple posts each with an individual reply.

Uh, they're not. And multiple consecutive posts just clutter up a page. Do you need to see someone's avatar and name before every paragraph or something?
