It's unnerving that value judgments in art are rooted in prejudice against poor people. I mean, the term "unwashed masses" originates from a derogatory slur towards them, as well as high culture and low culture having an inherent wealth connotation influences how one looks down on the other.

Value judgements in art are always rooted in prejudice, this isn't limited to poor people. Accusations of elitism, the market compromising your artistic integrity, catering towards liberals(http://tim-parks.com/the-nobel-individual) or other political camps, art that fails its function because it does not challenge the viewer, cultural appropriation and artworks that can only be really gotten by people of a certain oppressed group, death of the author and whether or not this leads to the specter of moral relativism-anything can and will be used to feel morally superior to others.
