So many things I could say.
Targeted ads. No, that does not make me more likely to buy your product. It just makes me creeped out that you would try to use my information without my consent. Though on a more positive note, they did encourage me to clean my cookies frequently.
Softcore porn ads for shitty MMOs. That is bad enough. The fact they show up on every DAMN site? Even worse. Coupled with the aforementioned targeting, it feels really creepy.
Video ads. A thread about this already exists.

Makes me think that the thing TVT did well is that ads became a feature. But I still use browser filters to the utmost, so, whatever.
Seriously, just use Adblock. If you feel bad about taking away revenue from sites you like, ask the owner to put up a donation button (and then donate). Or you could disable Adblock on particular sites, but shit like this happens often enough that I can't really recommend that course of action.
Yeah, right now I'm getting a ton of ads for an MMO called "League of Angels", most of which say that it's "18+" or "Men Only."
I'm considering getting adblock just for these ads, but I don't want to hurt the sites I frequent.
Ads on mobile apps. Enjoy your increased battery drain and data consumption. I use AdAway (I'm an Android user) to do away with that, and if a paid, no-ad version exists, I'll buy it if I like the app enough.
And any app that pushes ads in the form of notifications gets an automatic 1/5 from me and a very angry review.
What really bothers me about side-of-the-screen advertisements is how when you try to do-that-thing-where-you-make-the-program-into-a-little-box-on-the-screen-that-is-smaller-than-the-screen-but-is-still-visible, the side-of-the-screen advertisements are always present, and it's the actual content of the site that gets cropped.
