    What keeps you coming back?
Nowadays I like to use this place as a diary of what I did or what I saw or what I felt when I saw/read/played whatever. Of course I could write an actual diary but this feels way less forced.
What keeps you from coming and posting more often?
Outside of Glorious Anime and Japanese music, I have zero loyalties. It takes a conscious effort to come up with a post that I like and don't chicken out of, and I basically will usually choose to not cause lazy/embarrassed. I always change my avatar when a new Aikatsu Stars! series comes out though, I'd like to think of that as "staying active".
What do you think (if anything) about TV Tropes and its forum?
Sad life of wingsy storytime: I've personally always had a strong feeling towards TVT's YMMV pages. It feels like pages that were once a real "on the pulse" of actual fandoms have become stomping grounds for the opinions of whoever can win an edit war. Obviously, the mods on TVT don't watch/read anything and especially the stuff I'm interested in, so I always have that in mind if I'm inclined to maybe even start an edit war.

So I was reading the Project Runway YMMV page like... ninety years ago and I haven't been able to let go of how somebody called Sam from All Stars 5 an Elimination Houdini (a trope that, even with Reality Shows, isn't really subjective?*), because he wasn't. I will occassionally mull over actually going to edit that page, but then I'll think about how that wasn't the biggest error on the page, just the one that bugged me the most.

*In fact, a lot of genuinely objective tropes were reclassified as YMMV, for reasons I won't detail because the only way I can phrase it is mean and I don't really care enough. That and the insane number of Crowning/Dethroning X of Y tropes is really killing whatever fun I ever had with the site.
  • Fun fact: my sister regularly serves food to the girl that won Project Runway in 2016.

  • Speaking of Drama Chronicles, Vorpy, the other day I found the draft I wrote for the entry where you (and others) got banned:

    Part 1:

On [Date], Ian creates the IJAM thread "Marmite". Gelzo creates "Memnite" (the Magic: The Gathering card).

On "Memnite", Vorpy posts a www.lmgtfy.com link pointing to a search to "Russian child porn". The post is thumped and she is permanently banned.

The ban is talked about on the respective Activity announcement.

Vivi creates [thread] (original post since edited out) protesting the ban, and relents after a short discussion.

    Part 2:

On [Date], Myrmidon creates "Colonialists on TV Tropes", a cryptic thread whose OP (which was later edited out) was a complaint fixated on colonialists on On-Topic Content. After the initial confusion, Myrmidon explains that the thread is about the Something Awful thread's fixation on TV Tropes' lolicon culture and how these complaints affect how the site is administered. The thread is temporarily locked and Myrmidon is probated. Debate continues for a few pages until Inkblot posts [link], getting immediately thumped and banned.

On September 7, Myrmidon creates "Colonialists on TV Tropes", a cryptic thread later revealed to be about Something Awful's thread on TV Tropes being filled with fixated complaints about lolicon and how this has affected its administration. He is probated and the thread is temporarily locked. After being reopened, a discussion about lolicon sprouts, which Inkblot makes use of to post another LMGTFY link similar to Vorpy's. He's immediately "very thumped" and permanently banned.

Malkavian creates "BREAKING NEWS", admonishing Inkblot for that episode.

TheConductor creates "People Who Feel They Need To Get Banned To Stop Posting From A Place".

    Part 3:

On mid-September, not long after being unbanned for an unrelated incident in which he lost his cool, GLORIOUSLeader creates a thread calling out the forum's userbase. The post included another LMGTFY for child porn. He is banned and the thread deleted. Comments are made on the activity page, mostly about the LMGTFY links and GLORIOUSLeader's progressive slide into crankiness.

The rules thread is changed to indicate that posting illegal things will result in the mods alerting local authorities about it.
I was intending to post it sometime after Inkblot's ban, but with GLORIOUSLeader apparently it was becoming some sort of meme to do that so I thought I'd better wait longer until the whole thing completely died out and eventually forgot.

    Well, better late than never.
